Elegant Backyard Wedding in Australia

Moet & Chandon, garden roses and an elegant backyard… if I could hand-pick elements for a wedding re-do, these would all be a part of the mix. Captured by Bentinmarcs Fine Art Photography, this day is a collection of gorgeous images,  an intimate gathering of loved ones and a Bride who literally outfitted the entire wedding party with the help of her mom. From Bentinmarcs Fine Art PhotographySarah & Tristan had the sweetest intimate wedding held in their backyard with the closet friends and family members. To make the wedding even more amazing was the fact that Sarah and her Mum Kathy from The Ivory Gown made all the dresses, suits and Sarah’s beautiful wedding gown. I truly felt that I was part of the family, never feeling more welcomed at a wedding I even had my own table setting amongst the 18 guests.

From The Bride…I was never one of those girls who had her wedding dress planned in detail from a young age, which might be surprising considering I work with bridal gowns every day. I knew I wanted to include elements reminiscent of the glamour of the “Old Hollywood’ era, but largely let the design evolve as it was being made. I used all silk fabrics with the most beautiful, delicately beaded and sequinned lace and played around with the detail on the bodice until it looked just right. I had intended to sew silk covered buttons down the back of the dress, but I adored the way the lace looked without them, which meant I had to think of a new way to finish the back. The best and most seamless way was to be stitched into the dress! Although this might sound stressful to some, it actually felt really calming to have my mother slowly and carefully place the last stitches on the lace moments before the wedding. Having the opportunity to create my wedding dress with my mother was truly something special, and funnily enough one of the greatest fans of my dress became my dog, a 50kg Maremma, who sat right next to me on my silk train at every opportunity she could get!

Seaside Wedding Inspiration with Wedding Paper Divas

Now that my fiancé and I have chosen a venue and set a date for our summer 2015 wedding, the countdown is on and we’re ready to start the invitation hunt—my favorite part! I turned to the experts, Wedding Paper Divas, to scout out the perfect design for our seaside soiree.

Our Vision: After our beachside engagement, we knew a waterfront wedding was exactly what we wanted. To let our beautiful coastal venue speak for itself, we’re going for a soft, romantic style with a hint of classic elegance. Our color palette is blush, pale peach and a tiny bit of gold. With that in mind, we started the search for our design with a few must-haves: beautiful big lettering, the use of blush & gold, and texture.

Design 1: The Forever Laced design features those beautiful pink hues, inspired by the blushing sunset in our engagement photos. While the addition of lace patterning is the perfect detail for that elegant style we’re going for. I paired it with the Exquisite Artistry personalized coasters for a bit of reception fun.

Tip: If you’re feeling overwhelmed with choosing a design, narrow it down by selecting two to three must-haves.

Design 2: The second design we fell in love with was Forever Flair. A slightly more classic look, still featuring that stunning lettering but with the addition of gold foiling and more of our fun engagement photos. We added in the Diamond Sky marigold place cards to fancy up our tables.

The best part about picking our favorite designs? Wedding Paper Divas makes it super easy to customize, mix & match and truly personalize your wedding invitation suite so that it fits you and your wedding style. So my dears, I need all the help I can get—which one wins your vote?

Bohemian Chic Chicago Wedding

When you get right down to it, this is the kind of wildly beautiful yet deeply personal wedding we preach here on SMP. From the gorgeous blush and gold stylings by Kelly Lenard to the Bride’s late mother’s photograph sewn into her BHLDN dress, it’s everything an “I do” should be and we’re got a front row seat. Lauren Balingit captured the moments, and you can get started in the gallery right here.

From The Bride…On June 7th 2014 I married my Prince Charming, Mike, in the suburbs of Chicago, and my fairytale wedding came true. It was a sunny day, filled with our best friends and family celebrating the commitment we made to each other. I was lucky enough to hire Lauren Balingit, a film photographer, to capture all of the day’s beautiful moments, and her fiancé, Alex Balingit formerly of 27 Entertainment.

The décor was a combination of gold, blush and pale blue, along with pieces of my favorite childhood memories. The nostalgic smells of lavender from family trips to France, several Disney elements, blue birds, and my favorite flower, lily of the valley. I remember picking the lilies in my Grandmother’s garden in Indiana with my Mom. Both my Mom and Grandma, sadly, could not be present on our special day. My Mom was close to my heart though as my Aunt Cyndy sewed a picture of her in my dress. Also, for our recessional we asked our friends and family to sprinkle us with the blue bird confetti (that my aunts and cousins individually hand-punched!) to honor my Mom’s beautiful spirit. Blue birds also adorned our wedding cake, tying a bow of ribbon with their beaks, similarly to how Cinderella’s dress was sewn together.

I felt like a true princess wearing the wedding gown I chose from BHLDN Chicago, designed by the incredible Catherine Deane. My lovely veil was vintage-inspired as well from the bridal boutique Meringue, also in Chicago. I wore the timeless Sakura halo created by Cécile Boccara from France, which further incorporated the delicate pearls that embellished my dress. I carried a vintage Whiting & Davis gold mesh bag, and my earrings were by Nadri that my Mike had given me for our one-year anniversary. The morning of our wedding day, he surprised me with a gold monogram necklace incorporating my new initials, LOM. It was an honor to wear it as part of my wedding ensemble.

The incredibly talented wedding stylist, Kelly Lenard from Intertwine, is whom I give all the credit for our wedding décor. She communicated with me for months to bring all of my scattered ideas to tasteful fruition and beauty. I asked Kelly to incorporate as much gold into the day as possible. She misted metallic gold paint onto baby’s breath, eucalyptus leaves and seeds, to enhance our whimsical theme. She even surprised me the day of the wedding with the most stunning bright pink peonies that complimented my bridesmaid’s dresses perfectly! Also, as a tribute to the amazing Irish family I was marrying into, Bells of Ireland adorned the pews of the church aisle. My husband Mike and I used the cork collection filled with the memories we had shared and written on, to use for place card holders at our reception.

Two days after our wedding I was beyond excited to get dressed up again, but this time having the magnificent city of Chicago for a backdrop. Kelly Lenard created a stunning secondary bouquet for me, incorporating more vibrant colors and large garden roses, and a gorgeous floral crown. Lauren Balingit photographed us as we frolicked around our favorite city and strolled along the crystal blue water. After the shoot, Mike and I visited our favorite Irish Pub in the city, The Celtic Crossing for a pint of the black stuff. It was the perfect way to end our wedding weekend!
